Study of Impacts of Urbanization Process on Phenology Using Multisource Satellite Data

چکیده
Phenology is an indicator of the impact of climate on vegetation. As the representation of human activities, urbanization affects vegetation phenology by changing the local climate such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, etc. Recent studies starts to focus on the impacts of urbanization intensity on phenology. In order to understand the relationship between urbanization intensity and phenology, we identified the phenological transitional dates based on NDVI from SPOT/VGT and used a eveloped urban index ranges from 0-1 to represent intensity of urbanization using data from Defense Satellite Meteorological Program – Operational Linescan System (DMSP-OLS). The relationship between urban index and phenological transition dates from 1999 to 2002 were analyzed. It is found that there’s a not-so significant linear relationship between urban index and phenological transitional dates anomaly. However, when the excluded the biophysical factors, the local climatic variation is the key factor determining the phenology anomaly, while urbanization level also has influence on it.

Impacts of urbanization on net primary productivity in the Pearl River Delta, China
Great changes in land use/land cover from rapid urbanization have occurred in the PearlRiver Delta, China. As the primary cause of land development in the urbanization process, urban expansion has mostly occurred on land with higher NPP, significantly impacting theregional ecosystems. The primary purpose of this study was to reveal the impacts of urbanexpansion on the regional NPP. The land cove...
متن کاملAnalysis of the effect of drought on the phenology parameters of vegetation indexes from the time series of MODIS sensor images (case study: Hamadan province)
Drought is one of the consequences of climate change that slowly and over a relatively long period of time affects climate, environment, agriculture, vegetation, water resources and even economic and social sectors. The serious outcome of drought is the reduction of vegetation cover. In this research, using MODIS sensor satellite images of 2001-2020 (20-year period) and CHIRPS monthly rainfall ...
متن کاملThe Impacts of Population Change and Economic Growth on Carbon Emissions in Nigeria
T he main aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of population total, gross domestic product per capita, urbanization rate and energy use on carbon emissions in Nigeria for a period of 1981-2015 using autoregressive distributed lag approach to co-integration (ARDL). The empirical results revealed evidence of a long run relationship among the variables. The generalized ridge ...
متن کاملThe sand dunes migration patterns in Mesr Erg region using satellite imagery analysis and wind data
Understanding the situation, behavior and the nature of sand dunes and also their location, transport and deposition are very important. On the other hand, the importance of sand dunes is due to the impacts that they have on water and soil resources, flora and fauna and human infrastructure. This study, looks at the development patterns of sand dunes in Mesr erg region. In the first part, data ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Urbanization Effects on Land Surface Phenology in Northeast China during 2001-2015
The urbanization effects on land surface phenology (LSP) have been investigated by many studies, but few studies focused on the temporal variations of urbanization effects on LSP. In this study, we used the MODIS EVI, MODIS LST data and China’s Land Use/Cover Datasets (CLUDs) to investigate the temporal variations of urban heat island intensity and urbanization effects on LSP in Northeast China...
